Longleat Caravan Club Site Friday 23rd October - Sunday 25th October 2015

A weekend at Longleat Caravan Club site.  We arrived at 6.pm after hitting the rush hour traffic in Westbury.  The site was quiet but slowly filled up during the evening.  Saturday we went to Webbs and bought a washing line (I was never going to buy one of these!) We sat and read Saturday afternoon and watched the rugby on TV.  Saturday the site filled up, it's half term so lots of people were arriving for the week.  
These weekends away in the van are a real treat, we may not do much but we relax and we sleep so well.

 Sunday morning arrived and we were home and back to reality too soon!

Tudor Park, Gloucestershire - Friday 17th October - Sunday 19th October 2014

This was our first "longer journey" and also our first tow on the motorway and in honour of this we had taken a days holiday so that we could arrive on the site before dark.  We had been thinking about going to watch the Severn Bore a tidal wave that rushes up the river Severn several times a year.  The height of the Bore varies but at times people surf the wave. Watching the Bore is very popular and often occurs early in the day. We wanted to check out possible caravan sites so that if we went to watch the Bore we could stay locally rather than get up in the early hours of the morning and travel to the river. We picked up the van from storage and headed to the M4. Once we got onto the M4 it felt very comfortable towing the caravan we are still "feeling" the caravan at times and are not sure if this is normal, we know that our nose weight is fine so are assuming that this is ok.  It was strange travelling on the inside lane instead of the usual middle and outside...

Blackland Lakes, Calne, Wiltshire Friday 1st July - Sunday 3rd July 2016

Over recent years we have arranged a weekend away with work colleagues.  These have always been good fun with lots of games and alcohol.  We had booked to go to Blackland Lakes near Calne in Wiltshire, not too far from our work base to enable everyone to arrive at a decent time and enjoy Friday evening.  The site has several fields available including a rally field and a field that seems to be seasonal pitches There is an outdoor undercover barbeue area and bar, fishing lakes and some pet goats.   We were pitched in the first field with caravans up against the fence for the electric and the tents pitched in front of us.  This was fine as we knew everyone but it would have been too close otherwise. For our evening meal we decided on a takeaway, so orders were taken, phoned through and people were despatched to collect the food from nearby Calne.
