Morn Hill Caravan Club Site, Winchester Tuesday 21st June - Monday 27th June 2016
We returned to Morn Hill following a very enjoyable trip in May. On picking up the caravan from storage we had a problem with the motormover and ended up having to man handle the caravan onto the towbar as we don't have space to reverse if all of our storage neigbours are on their pitches. We phoned Webbs caravans in Salisbury en-route. Webbs suggested we call in to their service centre. Webbs sorted out our motor mover problem and we were soon on our way to Winchester.

The weather was warm although the sunshine was intermittent. We chose to pitch on the lower site again and although the road noise seemed louder than we remembered it didn't bother us.
The sky was very unusual with interesting cloud formations. We found a four leaf clover on our pitch. Hoping this is good luck.
Wednesday we needed to stock up the fridge so made our way to the local supermarket. We spent most of the afternoon snoozing and reading. Overnight we had very heavy rain with lots of thunder and lightning. It felt very steamy. Thursday we moved to a different pitch, we were able to pitch "front in first" which gave us a fabulous view over the local countryside.
In the afternoon we finally went to the Ghurka Museum in Winchester. (it was closed on on our previous visit) The museum was fascinating and told the story of how the Ghurkas came to serve in the British Army as well of tales of their bravery.
Friday we visited Mottisfont a National Trust property near Romsey. The gardens are renowned for the roses which bloom in June. Montisfont is very popular and the gardens were very busy. I was hoping for strong scents in the rose garden which is extensive unfortunately, the roses may have been spoiled by the amount of rain we have had, there was little scent and some of the blooms were brown. The house was previously an Abbey, the grounds are interesting with walks along the river and hidden buildings, we enjoyed spotting the trout
Saturday we visited the Watercress line a heritage railway at Arlesford. There is 10 miles of track with 4 restored stations. We planned to ride the train to the engine shed and have a look at what was going on with the restoration.
When we got there the rain was so heavy we stayed on the train and returned back to Arlesford.
After our journey on the train we went to Hinton Ampner another National Trust property, the gardens were lovely and included a church. The house has an interesting past it burnt down in the 1960's and has been rebuilt.

The gardens were very simple with far reaching views.
